Lets talk about Pornography

No we are going to be filthy, I want to talk about porn in a different way and for a different reason. Get your minds out of the gutter, this is Pimpernel not Hugh Hefner.

ICANN is the organization that determines domain names. They are the ones who give you a way to find something on the internet. They are controlled and paid for by the federal government. They rarely come up in the news so when they did I thought I might point it out.

ICANN has given a new designation to sites that have porn, the designation is xxx. This means that sites which have porn will have a separate designation making them easier to find and easier to block. I am not necessarily against this. Question is how it will be used and whether or not it is a blueprint for designating other types of sites, for instance controversial sites or mean sites (like the Nazis).

Will the use of the xxx be mandatory for adult sites and how will what is porn be determined? I said was coming a couple of years ago and was told I was paranoid, I am paranoid and it did happen. I am paranoid because people do plan and do regulate and it follows a pattern. It starts vague, attempts to "protect" children and then regulates small. After that it just increases in the regulations.

So what is pornography? It is not naked people according to many, There are many painting and sculptures of naked people that are considered art. What is the difference between a painting of a naked women and a movie of naked women? One justice of the supreme court said that porn may not be definable but he knew it when he saw it.

Are stories pornography? What about how to books? Is a book about how to have sex pornography? There are people who like to dress up like cute animals and have sex, they are called furries, would their websites be porn or comedy (not making fun of them but it is sort of amusing)? If I take a picture of my naked baby, is that porn? What if I send it to someone who finds it sexually arousing, the picture didn't change?

Once I grew up a little, enough to understand that boys and girls were different, the first naked breast I saw was of an African tribes woman. I could see that in school; but, I couldn't see it an American woman's breast in school because that was deemed inappropriate.

Perhaps the base question is wrong. The question should not be what is pornography but what should children be exposed to. Seeing breasts doesn't seem to have hurt people in the Amazon or the tribes people of Africa. What is different here?

I don't want to see people go to the bathroom, I want to be able to avoid seeing that on the internet. Is it pornography, I am not convinced it is; but, I don't want to see it. I think the issue for me is how can avoid seeing it.

If you search for images of certain things you are bound to find porn even when you are not looking for it. I used Yahoo to search for "breast", it returned 405,000,000 hits. Some were on breast cancer, some were on breast feeding and some were just pictures of breasts. I assume that if there were a xxx designation for websites I could block the ones that are "porn"; but, who would decide which pictures were obscene and which were okay. I mean the breast is going to look the same.

How bout this. Are feet pornographic? What about a site about foot fetishes, the foot didn't change. It is still just a foot and we can show those in public. Not long ago, and I wrote about it at the time, a professor had two students perform a naked sex act in his college room. Was that right or wrong.

I haven't seen many porno films and I don't frequent strip joints. Not my thing. In college they showed "Deep Throat". I had never seen a porno film and went with some people I knew. I found it boring and stupid. It was hailed as the first mainstream porn film, I thought that was just an excuse and still do.

There was a video of a guy who was captured by terrorists and had his head cut off and filmed. It was all over the internet, I haven't and don't intend to watch it. I don't need to see that, I understood what happened. Reading about it was bad enough, I didn't need to see it. I found that to be pornography.

In general what is pornography seems to be linked to the society one is in. Each society finds something obscene and there is no agreement. It would be hard to define porn in America anymore with what is shown on television and at the movies. Children who watch MTV reality shows see endless images of people making out and having sex.

We have had "porn" for as long as there have been people. It must meet some need. I like looking at women, I find them attractive. I like women's legs. I wrote about one woman's legs. Women look different then men and we like the way they look. I don't want to see my daughters naked, no thank you very much, they are grown women. Is this inconsistent, not for me.

I have seen many babies naked, it is cute. Their little baby butts; but, I don't find it cute when they are older. I have changed many diapers, once they are out of diapers I believe they should learn to keep some things private. How can we promote this in our children if we are watching porn?

Lots of questions and few answers. These questions have been in and out of the supreme court and their answers keep changing. I don't think ICANN will find the answers any easier than the supreme court has.

The Stupidity of Crowdsourcing

Hi all, I am back and feel better. Every now and then I get sinus headaches and they can last a couple of days. No need to feel sorry for me, I was born with a very small nasal passage and have a deviated septum. When I was young I used to get cluster headaches and believe me, those are wayyyyyyy worse.

I want to talk about problem solving. We have developed a nation of people who cannot solve problems on their own. Fear and greed and selfishness do not lend themselves to problem solving and that is where we are at. You cannot solve problems by ignoring them or attempting to hide from them, it doesn't work that way. I have mentioned before how nothing works anymore, not a single industry. This is being compounded by the fact that the last generation that was taught to problem solve is retiring.

This may sound a little harsh' but, it is true and it is recognized in business. Compartmentalization is what we have, specialists and experts. In business we have taken the Peter Principle to its limits. We promote based on personal connections rather than putting people where they are best suited. If you have a broken system you fix it, you don't try and put new bandaids on it.

The new management concept is crowdsourcing. It is believed that this is a way to keep the failed system working. The concept is simple, you attempt to harness the intelligence of a very large group of people under the assumption that the combined knowledge of the group will find the solution to any problem. This is a compete failure of management.

The basic idea is that if you have enough monkeys on enough typewriters eventually they will write a great book. Another example is that if we harness the intelligence of every five year old in the world they will be able to solve any problem. The implementation is being done through social networking. We used to call this "group think" and it failed, it always fails and it will always fail.

Big changes require original thinkers, outliers. Jesus, Buddha and Socrates changed the world, never wrote a word; but, they did it because of their philosophies. A million people combining the same knowledge will not result in the theories that Einstein developed. The greatest computer in the world is useless in such situations, it does not have originality, creativity. Even if a computer would have figured out what Einstein did, it would be useless because you need a human to understand what it means and implement it.

The philosophy behind group think is what destroyed this nation. There is a movie coming out called "Limitless". The idea is that you can take a pill that will make you smarter and then you can compete with people smarter than you. Transhumanists believe that we can augment our intelligence and abilities with technology, same garbage. Wisdom is understanding the depth and meaning of things, not just answers.

The implementation of the new group thinks is being done by crowdsourcing. The attempt is to utilize social media to find the best answers to problems. On the federal level it is being implemented using social media applications (check out apps.gov).

What I am saying may sound anti-democratic, it is. We are not all born the same, nor do we all have the same abilities. Societies move ahead because someone has a vision and other people recognize its truth and follow. Group think limits growth and denies responsibility, nobody is responsible for the final decision.

Why have we given up on growing up? Why have we given up on working together in the place where we are best suited? Partly because we have no faith in our leaders and partly because we like to believe we are all equal. We are not all equal, we deserve to be treated fairly and we all matter; but, that is where it ends.

Our greatest discoveries were not made by groups, they were made by obsessive compulsive people who focused on some area of understanding and tested everything. He who fails to learn from history is doomed to repeat it. It is social arrogance to believe that we with technology can avoid history; but, we keep trying. No matter how many sheep you gather together, they cannot replace one sheepdog.

What we are attempting to do with direct democracy, crowdsourcing and technology is work around the need for geniuses. The attack on people with Aspergers and attempts to "cure", if successful, means that we will not have any warning devices. We don't like knowing there are people who know better than us; but, they do.

IBM made a computer that competed against the best Jeopardy players ever; but, it didn't get all the questions right. 99% is not enough when the unimagined comes up, that is not nature. Nature requires variation for survival. Attempting to work around nature is simply retarded, you need to work with nature and learn from it.

If this sounds like a rant, it is. The real devil in this type of thinking is that we are attempting to create solutions that no one individual understands completely. That allows us all to be taken advantage of and justifies not listening to the voices that do understand because the crowd wont and the crowd decides.

I am not anti-democratic, I believe the wishes of the people should be listened to and that society should set the direction. I also believe that people should learn as much as they can. I believe we need to get back to basics. Lets start by teaching people to be moral and refusing to have leaders who are not moral.

We have given up on morality and that is the death toll of a society. Charlie Sheen says that we would all be him if we could and too many believe that. I wouldn't be Charlie Sheen, I believe him to be immoral. Rather than managing his urges he indulges in them as much as he can and that is the state of this nation. We no longer believe in boundaries, if we don't turn back we are doomed. Be well.

Why I Am Happy

This blog is really lame and I don't know why anyone reads it. Having said that, one thing I like is why people read it and who reads it. I find amusing that two people in South Korea have been reading this for so long (they haven't in the last few days; but, there is a lot going on for them), the other thing I love is that the second most searched terms that led people here were "Pastor Carol Daniels". I love the fact that others are looking at that case. I enjoy knowing that others are still interested in her horrible death and I hope that means that someday this will be solved.

Unbelievable

The FCC has announced the intention to regulate all public right of ways in the United States. I know about public right of ways, I was asked to write a book about them, I didn't write it. I am not going to write it, well, maybe the history of public right of ways, it won't matter if the fed decides to regulate public right of ways.

Texas believes they should be paid for their right of ways by the fed. That is funny, it is very funny. Basically, Texas wants to sell their right of ways to the fed and you know what, the manner for doing it was determined TEN YEARS AGO. LOL. And everyone, except me, did it wrong. LMAO.

Only certain people reading this will know what I am talking about and not many at that. I find that amusing. What I find even more amusing is that if the Fed were to pay cities for their right of ways and take responsibility for their maintenance, the streets would be better taken care of and the funds would offset the losses that municipalities are facing. It is a cookie chasing world after all.

Money is an illusion, it is nothing more than a paper promise. People break promises all too often. In the end, there is only the truth and without the truth you can't even have love.

Now, if the Fed takes over the streets, do they end up maintaining them? They don't currently, the cities and counties do. The fed contributes money; but, they do not supervise nor choose the work. Now I will tell you wisdom. If you are going to take over something, let it completely fail first (buy low, sell high). The industry is as screwed up as it can be and that makes the fix easy. Any improvement is a win.

Daylight Savings Time

Daylight savings time, lets talk about it a little. Firstly, lets define it, in the United States it is when we move our clocks either one hour ahead or one hour behind, except in Arizona where I don't believe they use it.

A good analysis done by the Federal government shows that it doesn't save energy. Yet, in 2005 the Energy Policy Act was passed. As part of that act, daylight savings time was changed. The person who wanted it changed was a congressman named Brad Sherman. I have talked about him but thought I might bring it back up again.

Now I first found out about Mr. Sherman when I researching daylight savings time. Oh, why was I researching daylight savings time, because of the stock market crash. You see, I had predicted to the day and hour when the crash would occur, in advance and notified people. We wont go into why I thought the market would crash when it did. Anyways, when the market crashed a couple of things happened. Firstly, for the first time in history hedge funds rather than banks bought 3/4s of all the treasury bonds. Also the computers went down for that hour that monitor transactions and finally, Europe and Asia couldn't trade with us because they were off by an hour do to the change in daylight savings time and didn't know what was happening here.

That is why I began researching daylight savings time, I wondered why it had been changed because Asia and Europe got pounded by not being able to sell their stock while the prices dropped like mad, they lost lost billions in that one hour. That is when I became aware of Mr. Sherman. He is married to a "foreign affairs agent" according to Wikipedia.

Mr. Sherman is sort of an interesting fellow, he is very smart and well educated. UCLA and Harvard law school, this guy is sharp as a tack. He is the same guy that called the Alex Jones program and Alex asked him why he had said that congress had been threatened with martial law if they didn't pass the nearly trillion dollar bailout. Mr. Sherman said some had stated that they had been told that; but, that nobody said anyone would get shot. Odd words and a strange place to say them. Oh, he also spoke at the Church of Scientology's reopening in Washington D.C.. He has been called one of the church of Scientology's best friends in Washington.

Mr. Sherman is also an accountant. He sits on financial committees and foreign affairs committees. I am going to guess that he knew that when we changed our daylight savings time, foreigners would not all adjust to our change. Funny thing, being a financial genius, I can't understand why he didn't do anything about the housing crash, let me explain.

Before we had the housing crash we had a inverted yield curve. The reason this is interesting is because the federal reserve keeps track of this curve and we had one in 2005 and 2006. When an inverted yield curve occurs it means that you are about to have a recession. Greenspan was asked about it at the time and he said he didn't think anything would happen. The crash occurred in 2007. Of all of the people in congress, Mr. Sherman should have known this. Heck the inverted yield curve was how I knew the market would crash and when.

I have written about this before; but, in honor of daylight savings time I want to bring it up again. Hey, since I moved a month ago, I now live in his district. That is ironic. Mr. Sherman seems to be a pleasant fellow, he is very knowledgeable and seems popular in the district having been a congressman since 1997. I would love to ask him why he didn't see the inverted yield curve or make a big deal about it. I would go to one of his town hall meetings and ask; but, nobody would understand what I was asking him and probably just get annoyed.

Oh, the current daylight savings time can be changed at anytime. If I were Asia or Europe, I would watch for us to change it.

Direct Democracy in Europe

A number of months ago I wrote about what I believe we will see in the future, specifically people voting directly on laws. This is traditionally done through "initiative" or "referendum". I specifically stated that I believed Europe was headed in this direction, well it has begun.

People will look at this as a good thing, people will think they now have the power to control their destiny, that their opinions matter. It is nonsense, you will see dumbed down laws and true tyranny of the masses.
