Happy 2/16/2016.

Just a couple of obvious posts and some music, maybe a thought or two, we shall see.

Yahoo - AP - APNewsBreak: US OK's first factory in Cuba since revolution.  China and India are not the only countries we plan on giving our manufacturing to.

The Slatest - Sanders Is Delusional if He Thinks He Can Keep His Promise on Mass Incarceration.  Read the title, it sounds like Sanders wants to jail more people, nope, he wants to jail less people. He wants to jail violent criminals, not those who hurt themselves like hookers or junkies. The article proposes that it is impossible to jail fewer people in America. Consider that we jail a higher percentage of our population than other countries including China. Read the article and see why we "cannot" jail fewer of us. The article does ignore talking about a few things, one of them being the fact that the private prisons require that we jail a certain percentage of our population or our governments are charged as if we did anyways.

No music, I changed my mind.

80,000 Hits and Stuff

Sometime today this blog will hit 80,000 visits. Wow. No advertising, no outreach and yet, here I am. In the near future, it will probably go over 100,000 hits.

Now to the news. Justice Scalia has died. His closest friend on the Supreme Court was Ginsberg. Many consider him to have been a conservative and she to be a liberal, those perspectives are naive and wrong. Within moments of his death Republican politicians and pundits began questioning the right of the president to nominate his replacement. It is his job to nominate the replacement. To see Republicans say that congress should not do their job and approve a valid candidate is to spit on the Constitution.

I know who Obama should nominate to the Supreme Court, he should nominate Laurence Tribe. Mr. Tribe is considered the best constitutional law expert in the nation. He taught Cruz and was the legal advisor to Obama. There is nobody who could argue that he is unqualified or ignorant. Neither politicians nor the public understand what the Supreme Court's job is and they don't want to. That is why justices are not voted on. It is the only one of the three branches where the founding fathers thought political opinions should not be part of the conversation.

Insulting Voters

I have already written about this once and did not intend to do it again. After Trump won New Hampshire the media attacked the people who voted for him as racist, xenophobic and ignorant, the were call zombies and idiots. The voters were insulted by the popular media. Love Trump or hate him, I don't care, I am for Sanders; but, don't insult Democracy. If you insult voters for being them, then you don't believe in Democracy, you believe you know better than everyone else. That is anti democratic. Who should we believe in or can we trust in the majority?

News Dump 2/10/2016

New York Times - Inside the Billion-Dollar Battle for Puerto Rico’s Future.

Fox - Cruz campaign criticized over mailers sent to potential Iowa voters

BBC - London's first driverless cars based on Heathrow 'pods'

Fox - Satanic group set to lead Phoenix City Council in prayer

Wired - Startups Can Escape Their Cash Crunch by Going to Mexico

Trump and Sanders Win New Hampshire Primary

Both Trump and Sanders easily took New Hampshire with about 20 points more than second place. If Trump and Sanders take South Carolina and Nevada, this race will be grim for the other candidates. This fact is even more striking for the Republican field. The funniest thing is that the mainstream media cannot accept the fact that either won. At what point does the establishment of either party recognize that they are no longer in control of their parties. It should be obvious seeing as how congress has less than a 10 percent approval rating, business as usual is not working and everybody knows it. The Republicans may want to blame Obama; but, the reality is that both parties are despised and have lied to us by selling this country out and we all know it.

People do not believe we should give tax breaks to companies that outsource American jobs to China. People believe that the big banks have rigged the system and the fact that those companies have had to pay tens of billions of dollars because they were caught rigging the markets is proof that they did. People are tired of a congress that only supports the rich.

I Love Media Lies and Spin

Go back and read any of my posts about this election. I stated multiple times that I thought Trump would come in second in Iowa. I wrote about how caucuses favor party stalwarts. Nothing has changed. The media is saying Trump has lost because he cannot get votes, that he cannot win elections, that his supporters are fools and don't vote. I predicted their response, read the posts. He came in second in the Iowa caucus. A man who has never run for office beat a field of politicians including the bother and son of former presidents. He beat governors and congressmen. The person who barely beat him won with conservative Christians, how do you figure that will work with the rest of the nation?

Iowa Caucus Today

Today people in the first state to effect the presidential primaries vote. For the Republicans Trump has a slight advantage in the polls over the others. I still say he may not win the caucus. In fact, if he does win it will likely mean he gets the nomination and that the Republican party "leaders" (the rich and powerful) lose. It is the only type of vote where the party has the advantage over the party voters. The polls are so good for Trump in the rest of the nation that even in Florida (where Jeb Bush was elected governor and Rubio was one of their congressman) Trump has a commanding lead. In Florida Trump has 48%, Rubio 11% and Bush only has 9.5%. He is dominating his opponents in the states that they are from, this is incredible.

If the Republican party leaders are able to put Trump in a second or third place finish in Iowa it won't matter. He will destroy them in the first real primary in New Hampshire. What happens when Trump takes Florida and New York? What happens if Trump takes California? Those few states alone can determine the election. Do you understand that everyone of the candidates knows who is leading the polls in their party in each of those states and it is not being discussed by the media.

The media and the political hack class  all want to get you to focus on abortion, gay marriage and marijuana laws. They are all meaningless issues that you cannot effect. Do you believe that while there are pills that will cause babies to be aborted that a law will stop them from being used? If billions of dollars in drugs like heroin and cocaine can be brought into this country each year that abortion pills could be prevented from coming here? Do you really believe any law will prevent homosexuals from engaging in homosexual acts, death penalties did not. Do you really believe that Marijuana was used less when it was illegal in the United States or that alcohol stopped being sold in the United States during prohibition? If we changed all those laws would it bring jobs back?

I recently heard someone say that we spent more on education and health than most other western countries, yet, we are failing to provide universal healthcare or quality educations. If our taxes are higher than other nations then shouldn't we better in those areas than the Scandinavian countries and the European nations? Why do we give government loans to people attending private colleges when we have state colleges that we could fully fund and people could attend for free and it would cost less. You know, our children.
