Yeah, barely made it through yesterday. Dinner was half a bowl of cream of chicken soup. Feeling better today, slept a ton. Today is election day, talk about being sick.
Jon Stewart and his stupid attempt to ridicule people who think this country is going socialist is a good example of the arrogance that surrounds us. I am not into tea parties. I don't care for the republican party or the democratic party. Both are lies.
Our government has changed and our opinion was not asked. The TARP bill was passed without our representatives even reading it. Same was true for the Patriot Act and the Stimulus Bill and the Healthcare bill. Mr. Stewart seems to think these things don't matter.
Our politicians are not doing their jobs. Then again, who is? Most people feel the world is too complicated for them to understand and they want things simplified. That is why Obama could run on the silly phrase, "Change". People side with images and gut reactions. This is a problem.
Mr. Stewart and his friend Mr. Colbert think we all need to take things less seriously. I disagree, we need to investigate and understand what is happening. The discussion regarding changes to the healthcare law was short and nothing was agreed upon; but, the law was passed anyways. It doesn't matter if you are for or against these bills, what matters is that we have an active national discussion.
If we wish to have a responsive government, we must insist upon knowing what is being voted on. We must be informed, we must investigate. The "tea party" movement was hijacked before it began. It was a way to let people vent.
I would like to remind people about the "town hall" meetings. They were a joke. The meetings were held with congressmen who did not want to attend. So why did they go, there is law requiring them to. Who made them go? How? Why were they called "town hall" meetings, who decided that?
We have become a socialist nation (good, bad or indifferent) in violation of the Constitution and without a true national debate. There was no Constitutional Conference. The Constitution was just ignored. For those who care, by the way, I am sucking down all the water I can. I will even try and eat something solid tonight.
We should be asking the question, why is the government system failing. We should be looking at the system and not just the lame personalities. We need to eliminate term limits, we need to vote for people who are neither cowards nor idiots.
Mr. Stewart said that these were not end times, just hard times. I disagree. At a minimum we have seen the end of being a Constitutional democracy. We are seeing the end of capitalism, we are seeing the end of privacy. We are seeing the end of home ownership, we are seeing the end of the middle class, these things apparently escaped Mr. Stewart's attention. His answer seems to not be so upset by it.
If every illegal alien left the country, it wouldn't effect the laws that have been put in place. You would not have more privacy or undo the healthcare bill. Our economy will not untangle from globalism, it's just not going to happen. Because we have been divided over our biases, we cannot come to agreement on what needs to be changed.
