General Petraeus and the Defense Intelligence Agency

Now here is something amusing. The civilian CIA was placed under the control of an acting General, they were militarized for four months. The General is somehow convinced to quit. I wrote about this just a couple of posts back in great detail and questioned the official story. Now that the general is no longer in charge of the CIA, an new organization is to be created. The Defense Intelligence Agency, a military version of the CIA.

I had read about the DIA earlier today; but, I didn't put two and two together until I read another article about it tonight. I don't remember where I read the original article, it would have been a major new source so you can search it. I am including a link to an article from Russia Times just because it is the second one I read.

Double agents: Pentagon grows CIA twin out of own spy pool

Here is something interesting from the article, originally the CIA was against the creation of the DIA; but, now they support it because the operatives will report to the CIA station chiefs. What do you think the CIA really thought about being put under the control of an active General?

I have always had a great affinity for the intelligence although, the FBI has annoyed me on more than one occasion. I still respect them. Still my heart has always been with the CIA and their nerdy little analysts, sitting in little rooms, reading everything on their subject matter and then writing contingency plans. Solving puzzles that don't even exist yet.

The CIA is the worlds largest think tank is dedicated to protecting the United States by knowing what others are thinking. Very little gets past them and their games are exquisite often. When we think of spy agencies, we think of James Bond; but, that is one in a hundred. Don't worry about the man with the gun, worry about the man that sent him because he can always send more.

I like to think that there is nothing that I have written in any of my posts that were investigative in nature that some darn CIA analyst hadn't also figured out. A very long time ago; before I became the loving Pimpernel that you read, I was approached by someone who wanted to recruit me into one of the organizations. I had been told in advance what to look for and what to expect. Cryptic, no, the people read this and know me can ask me about it if they so choose, just not for the consumption by those who do not know who I am. I messed his game and he had to go away, my attempt at indicating no when I was still young and easily annoyed.

Whatever you think is going on in the world, so do the fools that think they run this place. The world is run by contingency planners, by intelligence operatives and not by the military and only by the politicians and wealthy when they play by the rules and there are rules. I come from a military family and there is quite a lot I admire about people who willingly put their lives at risk for others. They were not designed to decide when to act. Diplomacy, it is said, is war by other means. War means that you have already failed or that you simply don't care about others.

So, hopefully you find the irony in all of this. Originally an active General was put in charge of the civilian intelligence agency and now, the Military Intelligence will report to the CIA, to the civilians, just like the Constitution intended. A civilian, the President, control the military. I have very little respect for "Homeland Security", they are not very subtle, a grotesquely created animal with little sense.

Sometimes, not often, I regret that I had not followed a different path. I grew up too close to such things and decided to just be the loving Pimpernel that we all know. Yet, somewhere, in the back of my head, I think I would have been an okay analyst, sitting in some little room, reading all that there was about my subject matter. Perhaps it is the hermit in me. LOL.
