Immigration Laws and Changing Attitudes

Ever since the 2016 primaries there has been a lot of talk about immigration enforcement and immigration policies. At the same time there has been an attempt to muddy the waters around the issues by playing games with the terminology used. People who entered the country without permission used to be called illegal immigrants; but, now they are said to be "undocumented workers" which is slightly misleading. Not all people entering the country illegally come as workers and many entered with documentation but stayed past their visas. Now, the term is changing again and anyone who came from another country is just referred to as an immigrant.

Before getting into why the change on how we view immigrants, we should look at the differences between different groups. A legal immigrant coming here must prove many things about their history and have a valid passport from their country of origin. They have to show they have a sponsor or are self-sufficient (through valid skills or economic assets).  People who entered this country legally on a student or visitors visa and stay past their time usually have skills and economic resources. People who enter illegally usually have no skills and little if any money. In fact, people who enter the country legally usually speak English to varying degrees and those entering illegally usually do not.

Historically, since the 1930s there has been almost universal agreement that immigration should be regulated and that illegal immigration was bad for American workers as illegal immigrants would work for lower wages are received no benefits. This made them particularly attractive in the agricultural and construction industries. People such as Caesar Chavez decried and complained about illegal immigration for that reason. In fact I cannot think of a single union that supported illegal immigration. The Democratic party was historically against immigration of all types. As recently as the 1980s and up until 2014, Democrats were against illegal immigration and called for limits on legal immigration. Bill Clinton, George Bush, Obama and Hillary Clinton all called for strengthening the borders and removing illegal immigrants. In fact Obama deported more illegal immigrants than any president in history. So what changed?

What changed was the attitude of the people who own this country and this world. You can call them the .1% or the "elites" or the global establishment. These groups began seeking open borders. While some would like to believe it is "people on the left", they are sadly mistaken. Both the Koch Brothers (severely "right wing") and George Soros (severely "left wing") are in favor of open borders. Strange isn't it?

Last night at the Democratic debate, three of the ten candidates chose to make lengthy statements in Spanish. They sought to garner support of non-citizens apparently. Most on the stage talked about giving healthcare to illegal aliens and other benefits. What was sadly missing from the conversation was a discussion of giving those same benefits to the homeless in this country or even the working poor. Why? Why was there no real discussion about homelessness in this country? Why was only one candidate willing to bring up the fact that in the next few years millions of Americans will have no work because of self driving technologies and Artificial Intelligence?

Many conservatives believe the reason illegal immigration is being pushed so hard is just to get Trump out of office; but, that is not the reason. There is nothing that prevents one from talking about illegal immigration and homelessness. In fact, there are far more illegal aliens than homeless which should make it an easier problem to deal with. It is easier to help 500,000 citizens (over 100,000 of whom are veterans) than 22 million people who came here illegally.

The media asked set up questions regarding immigration; but, failed to ask the simplest and important question. If you are not for open borders, who should be kept out? If you enter this country illegally and we allow you to stay, should you have to give something back such as community service? Should you have to learn the basics of what is legal and illegal in this country? Should you have to learn English? Should you have to keep the government informed as to where you live? Should you have to renounce your foreign citizenship? Why is nobody in the media discussing these basic issues? Keep asking yourself these questions over the next two years.

Google and election interference

This is why I don't use Google and use Yahoo instead.

UPDATE:

So, Project Veritas did a video showing that Google their searches to prevent Trump from getting re-elected. I posted the video above and the source video has been removed from YouTube. Here is a link to a story that discusses what happened and has the video.

"Big Kill" on Netflix

For what it is worth, I was looking for something to watch and ended up watching the western "Big Kill" on Netflix. Mediocre ratings on Rotten Tomatoes; but, I loved it. A guy from "Last Man Standing" was in it and I really like him. It reminded me of old made for TV movies from the 70's, not too deep, not too serious and just a lot of fun. I don't get paid for, or do movie reviews as a rule. Just a shout out to my readers that if they have Netflix, they might give it a try. A great quiet Sunday evening lazy movie night.

The timing of the bs.

So, in the last two months the race for 2020 has begun. LOL. The establishment has decided that they must kill dissenting voices. They regularly attack Tulsi Gabbard (my preferred candidate) and Trump. The same establishment trolls tell you neither has a chance in the polls (worked out last time, rofl). They seek to censor all dissent and tell you that your decisions are because the Russians have confused you while calling for Trump's impeachment. I have told people on social media that that the left can win if they offer the Midwest policies that will help them. I have told in response that the people in the Midwest that voted for Obama are just bigots and racists. Why is it that Democrats cannot offer policies that would help in the Midwest? The average Trump voter in the Midwest wants universal healthcare and an end to war. These people want war, they want war with nations that own their national resources, such as Iran. They want chaos. They live off confusion, emotion and bs.

Beware Hypocricy

This is just too funny.

The outrage of the day. Trump is asked what he would do if a "foreigner" said they had dirt on an opponent. Hmmm, what if an Australian said they had dirt on an American political campaign? I guess we would have to ask Mr. Downer. These idiots don't understand that it is going to come out that Australia, Italy and England worked to keep Trump out of office. Don't forget Hillary paid foreigners to provide dirt on Trump.

Just a singer

Ask yourself what he is talking about. Read the lyrics and ignore the music. What story is he telling?

I'm just a wandering on the face of this earth
Meeting so many people
Who are trying to be free
And while I'm traveling I hear so many words
Language barriers broken
Now we've found the key
And if you want the wind of change
To blow about you
And you're the only other person to know, don't tell me
I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band.
A thousand pictures can be drawn from one word
Only who is the artist
We got to agree
A thousand miles can lead so many ways
Just to know who is driving
What a help it would be
So if you want this world of yours
To turn about you
And you can see exactly what to do
Please tell me
I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band.
How can we understand
Riots by the people for the people
Who are only destroying themselves
And when you see a frightened
Person who is frightened by the
People who are scorching this earth.
I'm just a wandering on the face of this earth
Meeting so many people
Who are trying to be free
And while I'm traveling I hear so many words
Language barriers broken
Now we've found the key
And if you want the wind of change
To blow about you
And you're the only other person to know, don't tell me
I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band.
How can we understand
Riots by the people for the people
Who are only destroying themselves
And when you see a frightened
Person who is frightened by the
People who are scorching this earth.
Music is the traveller crossing our world
Meeting so many people bridging the seas
I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band.
We're just the singers in a rock and roll band.
I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band...

Caleb Cain, Censorship and Questions

The New York Times has just published a story about a 26 year old named Caleb Cain who claims that he was brainwashed to become a "alt-right" person by videos on YouTube.

New York Times - The making of a YouTube Radical.

Mr. Cain oddly enough joined YouTube on March 17, 2019 according to has YouTube channel, Faraday Speaks. Now, every YouTube account includes a channel even if you never post a video. My channel says I began using it in 2011. I had used YouTube prior to that but had to join to watch certain videos.

Mr. Cain also began a Twitter account which he apparently joined in January of 2019. Twitter@FaradaySpeaks. where he calls himself "Caleb Cain - Former Alt-Right.

Mr. Cain's channel is connected to four other channels. Three of them are actively anti-alt-right; but, one is bizarre. The channel is called Hans, has 40 subscribers and no content. It looks oddly enough like a drop box, a shared place for hidden comments. Why else would anyone subscribe to a channel with absolutely no content?

On March 21, 2019 Mr. Cain posted his first video. Which I show below.

In the video he claims that in 2014 he was depressed and turned to YouTube for self help videos, found Stephen Molyneux and ended up watching more and more "alt-right" videos leading him down a road to racism and radicalization. Eventually he found a left winger on YouTube and became normal again,

Timing is everything. You see in the last week YouTube has been called on to delete channels by conservatives. The poster boy for this call was of course the Carlos Maza writer for the NBC partly owned Vox publication. Now, right now, the New York Times publishes this major story about how this poor young mad was brainwashed into the alt-right.

Now, point of interest. In the comments section for Mr. Cain's video is a pinned comment from a YouTuber called ContraPoints. The comment was, "thanks and much <333 a="" alt-right="" and="" atalie.="" be="" bias="" cain="" care="" claims="" commented="" comments="" continue="" contrapoints="" cured="" deal="" depression.="" desire="" down.="" everything.="" everything="" for="" found="" have="" he="" here="" his="" hunger="" i="" if="" in="" is="" knowledge.="" let="" love.="" mr.="" much="" my="" of="" on="" one="" owe="" owes="" p="" person="" played="" please="" question="" read="" remember="" responding="" response="" safe.="" see="" sharing="" so="" states="" t="" take="" thank="" that="" the="" they="" this.="" to="" trying="" videos.="" we="" while="" who="" will="" with="" won="" you="">

I recommend you watch Mr. Cain's second video as he gives a little more background.

You will hear him early in saying he is reading from a script. In fact, his whole speech is scripted; but, he has memorized much of it. Hmmm. Heck, he even says at the beginning of the video that has written an article for a major publication.

If you are really interested in who this guy is, there is an interview with him.

YouTube - NonCompete - Farady Speaks Video.

Vox - How YouTube sent one man down an alt-right rabbit hole.

Expect this guys story to change over time. It reminds me of the Jesse Smollett story, something here just aint right.

Corporate Censorship

Louder With Crowder

Pimpernel is a big time supporter of free speech, something considered so important that it is the first amendment to our constitution. The courts have put limitations on it historically and rightly so. Libel laws are the best example; but, one can include yelling fire in a theater when there is none. Incitement to violence and putting out certain private information about someone (posting naked pictures of your ex for instance) are also restricted. The limitations on free speech are few in the United States.

While the government is limited in preventing free speech, private companies are not. This leads private companies to limit speech to what is generally accepted. If I believe ignorantly that the earth is flat, should that be restricted? What if I say it as a joke? Freedom of speech means you have a right to be wrong, if you do not then who gets to determine what the truth is? If I have a right to say we should have open borders, do I have a right to say I want the borders controlled?

Well, the big social media companies are restricting these things, especially YouTube. We are headed down a very dangerous path. If these companies can restrict what you say on their platforms, they can also restrict what you say in your e-mails and trust me that is coming too. You might laugh at this thought; but, the tech is the exact same tech. Imagine this situation, a group of neo-Nazis use the internet to create e-mail lists of all their members to send messages to one another to arrange gatherings and spread misinformation about Jews or Blacks, or whoever. What happens if Gmail wants to stop it and uses algorithms  to prevent them from having those conversations. Is there a reason that could not happen? The tech is there.

In the past, you could write what you wanted in personal letters, they were protected by the first amendment, not so for e-mails. If we are to have freedom of speech on the internet then the rules must follow the nations rules and in the United States that means freedom of speech.

Algorithms cannot detect comedy or sarcasm. Don Rickles regularly insulted people, it was his act and everyone knew it was just a joke. Will his videos be taken down from YouTube? This is very important, critical to all political speech as by its nature it is divisive, people have different opinions. Should I be allowed to say that I believe in the death penalty, should I be allowed to say I believe abortion should be legal. Both call for taking a human life (DNA defines your species). Should people in Palestine be allowed to post videos calling for the death of Israel? Should Muslims be allowed to call for taking over countries in the middle east? Should the Klan be able to post videos showing what they believe? Should you be able to read Mein Kampf on line? Should you be able to read books written that supported slavery to understand what logic they followed. "Those who don't remember the past are bound to repeat it".

Who should make these determinations and under what rules? For the moment social media platforms are making the rules for you and they are not consistent.

Trying Something New - Video of the Day

My first video is going to be from a progressive liberal comedian who still manages to tell the truth.

Jimmy Dore
