Stats and disturbing news

I was looking at the stats, almost 40,000 hits to this site, no advertisements, nothing flashy, very few pictures and only one other blogger ever pushed people in my direction, thanks Zuma, maybe someday we will meet. The blog has been up since 2007; but, I have also deleted everything twice and almost a third time.

The Pimpernel has a couple of medical conditions that I must address soon. Nothing substantial. I have hid from my doctors for the past five years except my ex-therapist. I liked him and he never poked me with needles. LOL. I cannot believe how many posts I have made, I cannot believe the people who have commented or followed this blog or all the amazing ways in which just being ourselves can effect others.

I am considering changing the format of the blog a bit. I am considering turning this into a place where I post articles from different parts of the country and world that were not picked up by the mainstream media. It is an idea I had a long time ago. There used to be a news show that played late at night in the US that was sort of a summary of stories from around the nation. I was thinking that posting links to foreign nations take on news from the US might be interesting. The story may be the same; but, seeing how much everyone agrees or disagrees might be informative. It is just something I am considering.

I am also considering making a movie (YouTube documentary). It would be about peoples perspective on why they don't or didn't go to church. It would be for Christians, so that they understand what they do that keeps people from considering Christianity. I am still working the concept out; but, I have a friend who made some shorts for college that has indicated he would be willing to assist. Heck, I might even do it as a kickstarter project. I just don't know how much I would need. At most I am figuring a couple thousand. I don't know what I would give to contributors, maybe send them a cookie? Another thought in process; but, I did speak to the lead pastor and he thought it might be worthwhile. If I do, it will obviously be dedicated to Pastor Daniels who kept me preaching even when only when one other person showed up. Maybe I couldn't tell anyone that because it might identify me. Lets see if I bother making it first.

Still be alive has been confusing to me. I have wondered why I am still here and what I should do with my time. I am thinking that I have made a mistake. I have wondering what I should do as I approach retirement rather than what I like to do. I like writing and I like film. I have always loved those things and unlike gymnastics, chess or art, can still do them. I did what I thought I should do with my life because I believed it was my highest calling; but, I gave up my passion, I gave up artistic expression. I didn't understand how much I missed art until I began this blog. I will never be able to draw again, my arthritis prevents that; but, I can still write.

My lead pastor and one of our elders has consistently said that I know what I am supposed to be doing. They are wrong and right. I don't know what my calling is; but, I do know my passion and my passion is for explaining to others things that they may have missed and I believe I do it best in writing. I may not be a great writer; but, I am a writer and have a couple thousand posts on this blog and more on other sites that say there are people who want to hear my voice. Now to the news.

The Guardian - How capitalism's great relocation pauperised America's 'middle class'. A pretty good article about how capitalism has worked out and destroyed the United States at the same time. Right now we are protecting the poppy fields in Afghanistan, that is capitalism. Protecting people so that they can sell Heroin in the United States. The United States was built partially on slavery, that was also capitalism. I believe in managed markets and economies, I think there should be laws and limits. I think everyone should have a chance and extremism calling itself capitalism does not. I think we should succeed based on our efforts not on our luck or ability to cheat others.

Mail Online - Toddler buys rundown Austin Healey Sprite on eBay after playing with her father's smartphone ... and her parents decide to keep it. This particular story was published worldwide. A little kid playing with his father's smartphone managed to accidentally buy a car. To my regular readers, can you figure out how this will be used? It is not hard if you follow my posts. This is why your phone will need to recognize you and others who might use your phones. Leading the sheep to the answer we want them to ask for, personal identification for all financial transactions.

The Independent - Exclusive: Mice with human chromosomes - the genetic breakthrough that could revolutionise medicine. Isn't this fantastic (extreme sarcasm), combining human and animal DNA might save us all. I guess they don't understand how it can also cause disease to jump from one species to another. Here is a line from the article, "However, researchers in the US and Japan are already well advanced in making “mini” human chromosomes called HACs (human artificial chromosomes), by either paring down an existing human chromosome or making them “de novo” in the lab from smaller chemical building blocks."

Hope you enjoy the nights reading. Comments and thoughts are always welcome.
