The EU and the Internet.

I was checking my blog and found the following statement by blogger.

"European Union laws require you to give European Union visitors information about cookies used and data collected on your blog. In many cases, these laws also require you to obtain consent.

As a courtesy, we have added a notice on your blog to explain Google's use of certain Blogger and Google cookies, including use of Google Analytics and AdSense cookies, and other data collected by Google.
You are responsible for confirming this notice actually works for your blog, and that it displays. If you employ other cookies, for example by adding third party features, this notice may not work for you. If you include functionality from other providers there may be extra information collected from your users."

I don't really care what European law says and I collect nothing from readers or those who post comments. I have never had an ad or anything similar. I must conclude that all bloggers on blogspot have received the same notification. They are seeking to place the internet under international law eventually. You will notice that they have not said we need to conform to Chinese law. The EU has no authority over what people in other countries post. If they do not like what is on the internet they are free to not allow it within their country. American companies do not need to follow the law of other countries for things posted in America.

Be clear, the United States created the internet. The US government did and we own it. We can prohibit other countries from using it. We have a first amendment, the freedom of speech and other countries do not. If we live by their laws then we will not. This attack on freedom of speech will not end until they control what you can and cannot say online.
