Lost

I watched the last episode of Lost online. Funny thing is that I never really followed the show. My ex watched it and I saw a couple of episodes. We used to watch "Twin Peaks" and it reminds me of that, vague, few answers and many questions. Very European.

The last episode bothered some people, it happens that way sometimes. In a nutshell, the last show explained they had all died and gone to the island to work things out that they had not finished in life. They were "saved" by knowing their soul mates.

I wish to play with that for a moment. Babies are born with half the DNA of each parent. What if, instead, when two people joined they became the new person? I do so hope that I provide the reader with questions that are intriguing and take you away from the mundane. If sex meant true, complete union, would you be more careful of who you slept with? I bet you would.

They say that when you sleep with someone, you sleep with everyone they ever slept with. Having herpes, I know this to be true; but, what if you truly became one with the person you slept with. You would be a lot more cautious about sleeping with someone.

What if when you slept with someone, you became a new being, a combination of you and your mate? A true soul mate. How would you approach relationships then? Imagine eternity alone. Imagine eternity with a soul mate. Which would you choose? If eternity with a soul mate, how would you choose?

The Devil did not make you do it.

It is Sunday so I will post about religion. There are certain verses in the bible that are rarely discussed; but, are quite intriguing.

"Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night." Revelation 12:10.

For anyone who is a Christian, they should ponder this quote. Satan accuses us day and night before God. What does he accuse us of? What of the story of Job? Satan was before God and God asked him if he had considered Job. Job, God said, was blameless and turned from evil. Satan says it is only because Job has been successful. God says, that Satan has power over all that Job has; but, cannot touch him. Why? Job loses his family, his wealth and everything; but, still turns from evil.

When you take these two verses together a picture emerges. Satan accuses us of being evil and sinful. He believes he is better than us. Less sinful, less evil. He justifies himself by comparing himself to the worst of us. The evils of this earth are not caused by Satan or God. We cause them. Man has never invented a weapon that he did eventually use.

Let us remember that Satan was the most beautiful angel. He looked down on us, he saw us as filthy. Satan, it is said, wanted to be worshipped and adored by us. Why? Why would you want to be worshipped and adored by something you looked down on? The unpardonable sin, because if you worship Satan, you hate God. Satan is one of God's angels, he loves God. He would say that he loves God more than we do. That is what he accuses us of.

It says that when we are in heaven we will worship God, it does not say he wants worship. It says he wants us to love him and each other. "Love God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself." It does not say Worship God and love your neighbor.

If we do not love our neighbor with all our heart, we have failed. That is the one thing we humans can do that Satan does not. It says in Mathew 7:22-23 "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles? And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness."

But, what did they fail to do? It is simple, to love one another. Power does not corrupt and absolute power does not corrupt, we are already corrupt. Power merely provides a microscope so that we can amplify our weaknesses. Most people who win the lottery waste the money and end up worse off. Few can handle the experience. They are not prepared mentally or emotionally.

Satan knows who God is. Satan does not want to be hated by God, he has read the book also. Do you think Satan wishes to spend eternity in hell? If not then why constantly accuse us before God? Why bother? If we go back to Job, Satan failed. Job continued to love God and not curse him for this foul life. The worst we can do is to follow Satan and accuse each other before God day and night.

I have talked about my ex and what she did. It is what she did. I do not wish her ill. I recognize what she did, forgive her and try to learn from it. Try to make sense of it. Forgive does not mean forget, it means remember and forgive, it means learn from. We cannot grow if we forget what have learned. That is avoidance of learning.

If the devil could make you do something, he failed. Then it is not us, it is him. Entice, deceive, threaten, use pressure, give opportunity; but, the guilt must be ours or he fails. We have to choose to be selfish, to not care about one another, to care about ourselves rather than all.

I do not mean to preach and hope I have not. I just thought a discussion of sin was timely. Be well.
