I Miss My Dog

I have just returned from Nevada. I went to look at a house for a relative. A four hour drive isn't much for a guy that travels two hours to work and two hours back on a daily basis. Still, the Nevada ride seems more rushed and I am a bit tired. While in Nevada I visited my sister and left my dog with her. She has two dogs and my little puppy needs to learn to be with others.

My dog is a one and a half year old Chihuahua. He is male and he is not going to be fixed. He is also not going to be chipped. He is the bravest little idiot in the world, nothing scares this dog. Everyday when I leave for work he cries, he actually sobs. When I return he pounces on my legs to drive me up to my bedroom and he does not calm down until I take my shoes off and he knows I am staying.

My little dog sleeps with me, he loves to snuggle against my legs. When I am on the computer he lays under my chair, happy just to be with me. It is good that I do not know who had abused him, I would not like them. My problem is that he does not like other people, he doesn't trust them. He tolerates some. He does like my sister, we picked him up together and brought him calm. He likes calm, he is the perfect dog for me and I miss him. I will have him back in a week or two; but, I am lonely without him.

Sometimes we have to be apart to grow closer together. Sometimes we need to learn to be with others to be with our other. Growth requires separation. If my dog can cry when I go to work, I can certainly shed a tear when we are apart for weeks. If we do not feel the pain of separation, it is because we have failed to love.

A Nice Little Video and Song

Not long ago I read a post about a man who lost his dog, it was old and passed away. The man was very sad and this is very understandable. Dogs are just animals; but, they love us like nothing else. They love us more than they love their own kind. That is a lot of love. We need to learn to love like that. Dogs love us more than the cookies of this world, we are their cookie.

To understand unconditional love, lock your spouse and your dog in the trunk of your car for an hour. When you open it, notice who is happier to see you.
