Immigration - Legal and Illegal

Even since the 1930s the Democratic party was against illegal immigration and even sought to restrict legal immigration. Watch these two videos.

So, what changed? Well, the Democratic party abandoned the working class and unions lost their power.

Lets talk about how the narrative has changed in the media. As long as we have had immigration laws, we referred to people that broke those laws as illegal aliens; but, now that is considered offensive. The new speak was undocumented workers, which of course assumes they all work. Yet the newest talking point is to refer to anyone who came here from a foreign country as immigrants regardless of how they got here. Again, what changed? Are all immigrants the same? Nope.

There are requirements to come here legally. People that come here legally either come with skills, come to go to college or come with money. Most legal immigrants speak English, that is just a fact. Once here they can usually get work visas. It can easily take a year or two to become a citizen, just marrying an American is no longer a guarantee of citizenship. How do I know this, my cousin married a woman from Panama and she became a citizen. I have worked with Philippines, Chinese, Indian, Pakistani, Ethiopian, Mexicans and many others that came here legally.

Now let us look at the average illegal immigrant. Most have little education, many do not speak English and most do not have many skills. In fact most work as unskilled labor. How do I dare say this, I was a preacher to a church of mostly illegal aliens seeking asylum because they were gay and faced real life threats in their countries. They were true asylum seekers. They are the exception to the rule, most people coming illegally are economic immigrants. Whether that is a valid reason or not, whether we should allow it or not are valid points for conversation; but, it is not a legal one. I think we can all understand their wish to come here; but, is it to the advantage of the working or middle classes? Probably not.

So, why the push now? Why did the Democrats change their policies? Who does it benefit? According to Bernie Sanders it lowers wages for working class people. I would also say that it allows businesses that hire them to treat them as slaves.

Here is a question that deeply disturbs me. We provide almost no services to the homeless; but, many are seeking to help the illegal immigrants. Hmmm. Once a foster child turns 18 they are provided almost no services and often end up homeless. Why are we seeking to treat illegal immigrants better than our own poor and needy? Why is this issue almost discussed by mainstream media or the politicians for that matter? What changed. Why if we cannot provide universal healthcare for Americans why are their calls to provide healthcare for illegal aliens? What changed?

If I enter Mexico illegally, I can go to jail and probably will if caught. Canada signed the UN Migration Pact; but, requires me to have a passport to enter their country as does Mexico. If one is an ex-felon they are required to immediately notify local authorities if they move to another state even if not on parole or probation. That does not apply to illegal aliens.

When is the last time someone went to jail for knowingly hiring illegal aliens? I don't remember either. How many people went to jail for the housing crash, the stock market crash or rigging the markets? I don't remember any either. Certainly not the people who benefited the most. Hillary Clinton gave a speech to bankers calling for open borders and they liked her speech, paid her lots of money for it. Hundreds of thousands of dollars for one speech. Why did the bankers like the idea of open borders?

If you want to understand why something is done in politics, you have understand who in power it benefits. What is the effect in Europe of bringing in millions of immigrants from the middle east? Well, it creates division and causes people to focus on their neighborhoods and their safety rather than how their economies are working against them and their social programs are becoming impossible to fund due to too rapid expansion of those who can receive benefits and have not paid in. Nothing happens by accident in government.

Let us assume that the .1% really care about illegal immigrants then we should assume that they would be willing to have a tax increase to provide them services. If we were to tax business and the wealthy an additional 1% of their income for every million illegal immigrants, I bet they would suddenly want to end illegal immigration and build a wall which was staffed. Tell me I am wrong. If we were to increase the business tax on all companies that send jobs overseas, I bet they would send less jobs overseas too.

Walls are not useless; but, they are not a complete solution. Jailing people that hire illegal immigrants is a solution. Bill Clinton pushed a bill to punish companies that hired illegal aliens. I guess he forgot that as did his wife. What changed? Global monopolies came to power and they love open borders because it keeps wages down and distracts people from paying attention to how the powerful control the government and their lives.
