Homelessness in America
While I am going to discuss the Occupy movements, this is really a post about homelessness in America. Millions of Americans sleep on the streets every night, you can find them sleeping on the streets of New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, Berkley, Oakland, San Francisco, Portland, you name a city and there are homeless people sleeping on the streets.
I have been responsible for taking in a few of these people. I have fed them and lived with them and helped them. Guess what they were not junkies or crazy. Those are out there; but, that is not all of them and they don't all start out that way. Look up what percentage of foster children end up on the streets when they are 18.
This nation which can give a banker a $50 million dollar bonus after bankrupting the bank or a CEO after bankrupting a company cannot find it in it's heart to feed or clothe the homeless. Instead people look down on the homeless and the police ignore them sleeping on the streets because the alternative would be to put them in jail; but, then you would have to feed, clothe and house them.
You don't see the politicians making a big deal about homelessness. They just ignore the issues. They ignore them sleeping in the alleys, streets, sidewalks and parks. I have this against the Occupy movement, if you don't call for the betterment of all then you don't deserve it for yourselves.
As for the politicians and police who seek to remove the Occupy people from the parks and sidewalks. I guess the only time you notice someone sleeping on the streets is when they have a sign talking about your corruption rather than begging for enough to eat. By the way, don't you think I should Occupy my blog. I think I will, I think we all should, those of us who don't choose to sleep on the streets with our brothers and sisters; but, support their right to be heard, to petition for change and there are not requirements, you don't have to do it in a legislated manner, it is okay to complain in any way that gets you heard and is peaceful.
After decades of allowing millions of Americans to sleep on the streets rather than giving them a place to stay, suddenly the politicians and people in power are concerned about people sleeping in the streets and urinating in the streets. What has changed? These people are complaining about it, that is all that has changed. They are complaining about all the wealth going to a few on the top.
A change is coming, nothing can stop it. The exact nature of that change depends on us, the 99%, the Tea Partiers and Occupy movement, heck, regular people, non-political people, our society is going to change. The discussion can be peaceful or violent, I personally am a pacifist and have a preference; but, I know history.
I will give my definition of what "Occupy" means, it means that I as an individual and we as the ignored occupy this world also. "We" matter, we are not a commodity, we should not be abused, all people matter. Anyone who reads my blog would have to be pretty dumb to think I would have been against this movement. Think about what it says, YOU MATTER. Think that just came to me after the movement began, my blog's posts are dated. People matter.
The world will be different in two years, count on it, you already know it. The question is how we will decide what that change is, in what manner will the discussion be had. Will we be tricked into something that is worse for the majority, will we violently take control and distribute our wealth in a new manner or will we be as inclusive as possible in openly discussing the options and seek consensus? Only time will tell; but, don't think that we will ever return to the past.
Here is where these times are trying and this is just history. It can be peaceful or violent and the masses always win in these times. It can result in more peace or more restriction. No society every succeeded that only got more restrictive, that is history. The determination as to how a society proceeds is based on grace, it is when the winning side does not destroy the losing side; but, finds a new way to work together. That is history.
When the winner emerges, they tend to destroy the minds behind their movement. It is best to listen to the minds behind the movement before they are eliminated. That is how we remember history, not by how we personally benefit from changes, from why the changes were needed and why the society that preceded failed. Change is a constant and evil exists, corruption is nothing more than selfishness and a disregard for others. That is corruption and it may or may not result in you becoming richer.
This life is not an individual journey, it is a societal journey. It is the mass of consciousness finding it's best place and if we do not than we share in the misery of what we have created. We are the creation that keeps on creating. This is not "Star Trek" or some tv show, this is life and it is experienced by all of us and we decide how it will be. Be well.

Purpose in Life
I have to lead a little home study group tonight, the regular pastor is sick. The series we have been going over has to do with finding purpose in life. We should all have intent; but, sometimes things change and we must change also. A simple example of this would be dedicating your life to your family, well, when the kids grow and your spouse leaves or dies, you cannot really live that purpose in the same way.
I mention this because at this point in my life I am living that experience. The kids are grown and have their own lives and the ex is, well, she is the ex. I haven't really had much time to ponder my purpose, or my new purpose because I have been busy unburdening myself of so much. Getting rid of my house and finishing my divorce were biggies and they took a couple of years. Settling in to my new place has also taken some time, although I really enjoy having less to deal with.
I was asked today by a friend if I was going to date again and I said I really didn't know, that it wasn't something on my mind. Ever since I was 4, I knew what I wanted to do and I did it. Now I am in my early 50s and starting over in many ways. I think that takes some distance and time, distance from the life we lived and the intent we had so that we can let go of the old habits and determine where we want to go.
I believe we should have purpose in life and I also believe that sometimes we have to take some time to ourselves to review the past choices and decisions that we made. I do not think we should just jump into something new, especially not a relationship. Sometimes we jut need a break. I need a break from thinking about what I want to do with my life.
An aside to this is that when these phases in life complete and we are ready to begin a new one, we begin with more knowledge and understanding and doors that were once closed can open again. Tonight my purpose is simple, stand in for someone. I can do that, I can talk for a little.
Sometimes it is as simple as what you are going to do today rather than what you are going to do for the rest of your life. Who knows what tomorrow may bring, I sure don't. I do not know who I will meet, what I will be confronted with or if I will even see the sun shine again. For today, I am just going to finish the night, hopefully. Be well.

It is not about taxing the rich more, it is about corruption
So Warren Buffet and Bill Clinton both think the rich should be taxed more. It is not about taxes being fair, although they should. It is about the corruption of the system. It is about how the rich get the rules they want and the rest of us get taken advantage of. It is about fairness in the process. You can tax the rich all you want; but, if that just increases how much they steal from you then nothing has been accomplished.
It is not about greed, it is not about limiting what one makes, it is about corruption. It is about a system that can work around honest rules to continue to take advantage of the honest and promotes dishonesty to justify it's own corruption. It is about fairness.
Who could possibly be against what I have just said? Who is in favor of a corrupt system and against rewarding innovation, hard work and honesty? I am sure that the mass media still cannot understand such simple concepts because they are rewarded for dishonesty. Be well and peace.

I Love Writing
When I am down or confused I write. I do not live to write, I write to live, it is such an integral part of my being. Writing and being able to use words with precision, being able to make something understandable to others is a very deep blessing. It allows me to go beyond myself.
I believe I am finding more reason to write and that is a good thing. Because there is so much to talk about. Let us begin with some scary things. Lets talk about trends that will come to the wrong answers.
Trend 1 - The drive towards direct democracy. There is most definitely a trend away from representational government. Look, it should be obvious that I support the Occupy movement's call to end corruption and take more control over our country; but, direct democracy will not work. The problem with direct democracy is that you cannot pass meaningful legislation. Everything gets dumbed down and the bureaucrats can make any decisions they want. Representational government works the best; but, it requires only voting for people of integrity more than voting for how they will vote on specific bills.
Trend 2 - Anti-Israel attitudes. Israel is not the cause of all the worlds problems and jewish people are not the world's enemy. Let's remember why Israel was given nationhood again. Firstly, wherever Jewish people went outside of Israel they were persecuted, the holocaust merely being the worst of it. Whole towns of Jews in France were wiped out by the French prior to World War II. We will see people continue to focus on corrupt Israel by pointing out the corruption of individual Jews. Guess what, go back a post or two and read what I wrote about the approach. There are crooks in the NYPD and nobody is calling for the end of them.
Trend 3 - The drive to end fractional currency. The truth is that for every real dollar that exists, a bank can lend out ten. Yes that is true, it is the whole concept of loans or future payments. Money is nothing more than a promise and it allows many wonderful things to happen, the mutual exchange of promises is the heart and soul of every contract. It only works if people are prevented from borrowing more than is reasonable to expect them to be able to pay. The same holds true for governments. The government has passed rules regulating the loaning of money; however, it does not follow it's own guidelines and merely prints more money making all the existing money less valuable. Currency needs to be based on a solid foundation (no not just gold, percentage of population working plus mineral wealth minus the entitlements that it gives to it's people or some such formula); however, we still need to be able to borrow.
Trend 4 - A coming catastrophe or mind awakening experience. Watch out for both. WE are not ready to become spiritually aware and won't be until we are dead. As for the catastrophe, yes and no. The world is not going to end, everybody doesn't die off. We are here for a reason and the reason will complete itself. I believe in God and Christ and I read the book better than the idiot that said the world was going to end. Okay, for those who wish to read my new blog here is the link, "Sundays at 5". I am telling everyone that this is exclusively about the bible so if you don't like it when I write about religion, don't follow the link.
Trend 5 - Telling people that we are merely flesh machines and that we cannot know reality. No, you matter, people are the most important thing in the universe, we are the consciousness of the universe. You can know reality, you can make valid observations and you can understand the world, it just takes the effort to do so and a willingness to not let what you want to be true get in the way of what appears to be true.
Trend 6 - The Devil is not in the detail. The Devil hates the truth and therefore he hates the details, that is how deceit rather than straight out lies work. There are no outliers, there are only people. 99% is not us, 100% is us. The problem is not that 1% have more than you, the problem is corruption. Most people get this, that is why capitalism works the best. But, it only works the best when corruption is addressed and people are shown that honesty works better and that requires honesty from all. Yes, everyone makes mistakes. I am not talking about perfection, I am talking about rewarding good and not bad behavior.

Football, Politicians and Occupy Wall Street
Lets consider something, the head of the International Monetary Fund gets arrested for rape and nobody considers this a reason to end the IMF. Penn States assistant coach Jerry Sandusky is accused of having assaulted numerous young boys and nobody calls for an end of college football. Why not? Oh right, because every organization has some jerks and we can't hold the innocent accountable for the bad ones; but, someone gets raped at a protest and we seek to remove all protesters. That is hypocrisy.
A recent article said that over 3,400 people had been arrested at Occupy events; but, it forgets to highlight the fact that almost all of them were arrested for protesting and not for committing crimes other than protesting. Would you like to hear some more stupid stuff, it is simple just follow the news media. Now there are articles across the United States about how the Occupy movement has displaced the homeless. Wait a second, it is okay for the homeless to sleep in these places but not regular people? Huh?
Consider Herman Cain, four different women have accused him of sexual harassment that we know of so far; but, that doesn't seem to be a problem except in the polls. There are other articles that claim that the Occupy movement has been "infiltrated" by some bad groups like Acorn. This is laughable, our whole political system has been infiltrated by bad groups, they are called lobbyists and big business. Perhaps the lobbyists and the political action committees should disband and go home.
When you read any article that uses one incident or even a limited number of incidents and then comes to the conclusion that the protesters must go home, then know that it is a lie. The problem is not the movement, it is not crime, it is not antisemitism and it is not their lack of leaders or their not calling for specific changes in the law. What is really annoying the people in charge is that the Occupy movement highlights what is wrong with this country and that is corruption and too much control by the government over personal freedom. The biggest statement of the movement is that they won't follow authority figures or the police.
In Washington D.C., over the weekend it has been reported that at least four protesters were struck by cars and the police let the drivers go. I guess the D.C. police only protect banks, politicians and businessmen. New York police of course are even worse. Police in New York have recently been indicted for ticket fixing (the union supports them for doing such), robberies and gun running to name just a few. Perhaps the police at Occupy Wall Street should be sent home because clearly some of them are crooked. Doesn't the same logic apply?
Now I cannot put tow good thoughts together at present because I am still upset over a recent passing; but, even I can see the shear outrageous corruption of the media and there approach to reporting on the Occupy movements. What is the message of the Occupy movement, well one of them is that they don't trust representative democracy because whenever you choose a representative they get bought off. What is the point in electing representatives if they are not going to represent you? Why is this so hard for the media to understand, are they really that retarded that they cannot understand the simple premise?
One Occupy movement recently chose a "leader", they elected a dog. The Tea Party elected many representatives and nothing has changed. NOTHING. How many people that you have voted for have actually done what they said they would do? Yeah, just like Obama and Bush, both made false promises. That is politics. I do not believe in direct democracy; but, I am not against true veto power being in the hands of the people. That can be a direct vote.
The real problems in this world are not capitalism or socialism or even communism. All of these systems have failed because we have become corrupt as a people, the real issue is of selfishness and corruption because any system goes bad when we the people care more about what we get out of the process than making sure that the process is fair and right.
In China recently a toddler fell into the street and was run over by two vehicles, neither of which stopped. Dozens of people walked by and nobody helped the child, it was all captured on video. While the Chinese believe in taking care of relatives, they have been trained to not help strangers. Their media has put on ridiculous presentations on why people should help others and was caught making up completely false stories of this occurring.
It is a known fact in standard philosophy that you cannot have an absolute morality if there is no God. Instead the highest you can hope from people is that they will look out for their own self interest and that is what we have taught in this country for the past 40 years. We are told that logic requires that we do a cost benefit analysis rather than consider if something is innately right or wrong. Remember the words of W.C. Fields, "You can't cheat an honest man".

Let's Look at Spin in the Media
Here is an article from ABC news. Now if ABC is not mainstream then I don't know what is. Police in Riot Gear Arrest 20 Occupy Atlanta Protesters
Consider the first paragraph. "Nineteen Occupy Atlanta protesters were released from police custody today after a raucous night of protesting, in which protesters skirmished with cops in riot gear, on horseback and on motorcycles who were called in to clear them out of Woodruff Park at its 11 p.m. closing time."
Okay, lets start with the headline. It is one of force, it implies that the police HAD to arrest 20 people, because of course the police are always right and the people are always wrong. The media always says how police "had to" do this or that, no they don't, my dad was in the police and he discussed choices and options that he had considered; but, then my father was not a thug or dishonest. Let's see, the NYPD Union protested to say that their officers should not be penalized for fixing tickets for friends and family because that is what people do. Imagine Arnold Schwarzenegger with a badge because he said the same thing when he pardoned a murderer that was related to a friend.
Now lets move to another part of the paragraph. They start by saying there was a "raucous" night of protesting. What does that mean? It didn't say the people were violent or caused any problems, "raucous" is a meaningless word used to justify what the police did without giving any specifics. It next says, "in which protesters skirmished with cops in riot gear". Wait a second, who skirmished with whom. Did the protesters come after the police or did the police come after the protesters. Kids, this is nothing more than garbage and propaganda.
When the police go after people peacefully and without weapons standing on a street saying that they are being taken advantage of by a corrupt system, we say the protesters created a skirmish. What happens if you leave the protesters alone? Nothing. So, what is wrong with letting people peacefully assemble and protest how the 1% have bribed their way to a totally corrupt system?
Do not be worse than sheep, do not accept everything you are told even when you know when it is wrong. Think and read, investigate and understand. It is all a lie.
